You will then practise applying these methods in a collaborative problem-solving session.</p> <p>This workshop is suitable for any first-year student who will encounter mathematics as part of their degree. <p> </p> <p>Have a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure out in Sydney with your FASS classmates! This event is designed to bring FASS postgraduate students, local and international, together to explore any fun (and safe) Sydney spots of your choice:</p> <ul> <li>Sign up to get allocated to an excursion group of a maximum 6 of students from your degree or faculty (groups will be made on WhatsApp)</li> <li>Start discussing your alcohol-free excursion options (eateries are fine to visit) via your WhatsApp groups before the event</li> <li>Register your excursion selections with a FASS Student Partner on the day of the event</li> <li>Depart on your excursion (walk, bus, train - make sure you have an Opal card ready to go)</li> <li>Explore Sydney for up to seven hours and within a distance of 10 kilometres from the university</li> <li>Check in with a FASS Student Partner at the end of the excursion via your WhatsApp group to confirm your safety</li> </ul> <p>If you are a local student, you could help international students in your excursion group by recommending your favourite Sydney spots or Sydney spots you’ve been meaning to try out. </p> <p>If you are an international student, you can pitch in with your Sydney wishlist or simply join the group to get acquainted with your new home city and its public transport.</p> <p>Most importantly, whether you are a local or an international student, make new friends from your faculty and have fun!</p> <p>This event is open to new and returning students.</p>

<p><em><strong>Please note this event is only open to students who were Peer Mentors in Semester 1 or Semester 2, 2025.</strong></em></p> <p> </p> <p><em>The Peer Mentor Thank You Event will be the first all-faculty recognition event celebrating the incredible contribution of our student mentors. This special occasion brings together Peer Mentors from across the University of Sydney to acknowledge their time, effort, and dedication in supporting their peers throughout the year. </em></p> <p><em>The event will begin with a campus-wide Scavenger Hunt where mentors will work in interfaculty-faculty teams to solve riddles, complete challenges, and race to the finish line.</em></p> <p><em>At the final location we will be hosting a networking reception, where lunch will be provided as well as some activities to recognise you for your impact as a peer mentor. </em></p> <p><em>This event is both a celebration and a thank you, recognising your invaluable role Peer Mentors play in shaping a welcoming, supportive student community at the University of Sydney.</em></p>
