How to...make friends & build relationships: Avoiding social isolation

How to...make friends & build relationships: Avoiding social isolation

Mittigar means friend in Dharug, the language of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation — the traditional custodians of the land where our university stands. On your university journey, friendships and social connections can make all the difference. Together, you’ll study, grow, and one day, walk across the graduation stage side by side.

In this workshop, we’ll talk openly about building and sustaining meaningful connections during your time at USyd. We’ll cover:

  • Social circle opportunities at USyd — including USU, Clubs, and Student Life events
  • Dating and relationships, including sexual consent and health
  • Navigating healthy versus toxic relationship dynamics
  • Where to go for support
