Skills for University Mathematics - Maths Empowerment Series

Skills for University Mathematics - Maths Empowerment Series

It is common at university to encounter unfamiliar maths problems and feel unsure where to begin. This workshop introduces you to a set of strategies, focused on intuition and problem-solving, that you can use to get started when a question feels overwhelming or unclear.

We will explore a range of techniques, such as working through small cases, drawing diagrams, identifying patterns, and rephrasing problems. You will then practise applying these methods in a collaborative problem-solving session.

This workshop is suitable for any first-year student who will encounter mathematics as part of their degree. No prior mathematical knowledge is required.
