Spend the afternoon with us playing games and joining us in some sports (no athleticism required!). Enjoy a nice lunch, cool music and good laughs. Welcome to the Bachelor of Wildlife Conservation (Taronga) AND the Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Taronga Wildlife Conservation).  You are embarking on 3 years of theory and practice behind why wildlife and biodiversity is important, how we effectively measure it at different scales, and what actions we can take to slow or reverse the decline.  This knowledge will for the basis for you to have a career in wildlife conservation, environmental science, ecology and research to name a few.   Join your Degree Coordinator for an overview of your Wildlife Conservation degree to help you understand what your studies will look like.  Learn everything you need to know about the components of your curriculum, your cognate major, and all the requirements you need to tick off before you graduate. Conversation Kit is a series of 4 communicative workshops to support international students in gaining confidence with everyday communication in English.  By taking part, you will learn essential tips for navigating life and study in Sydney, gain practical language tips, practice navigating tricky scenarios and asking for help when you need it.    Delivered by our experienced Peer Facilitators, Conversation Kit is a perfect space to meet and practice with other students in a supportive environment.  Be sure to check out the Conversation Kit Canvas modules that provides examples of useful language, resources and reflective exercises to support the topics we will cover in these 4 student-led workshops.

One of the most challenging aspects of transitioning to university is getting to know individuals when a lecture can have hundreds of people. However, meeting and making friends is a critical part of university life, so students are able to develop a support network that can continue throughout their degree to support their mental and academic well-being. The Science Undergraduate Peer Mentoring Program is a fantastic opportunity for commencing undergraduate students to meet their peers and gain insight into University life with the help and guidance of a senior mentor. Our Mentors are trained to support your transition to University. They can answer any questions you may have, whether you need to know where to get help on a particular issue, tips and tricks on organising the best timetable or even where the best coffee on campus is - they know it all!  We’ll kick this event with a playful speed networking activity to help you meet other first-year students from across all science majors. It’s the perfect chance to connect with people outside your mentor group and make new friends in a relaxed, welcoming environment. Afterwards, join us for a campus tour to get familiar with your new surroundings, followed by a BBQ where you can unwind, bond, and share some laughs with your new mates.

What to expect: Meet other students and make new uni friends (who knows, you might just find your new BFF!)   Games, laughter, and fun- all designed to break the ice and help build connections Free snacks!
