Courageous Conversations
Join us as we welcome Australian comedian, musician and advocate Jordan Raskopoulos and guests to Courageous Conversations, our annual Extended Welcome event.
Perhaps best known as lead singer of beloved comedy trio Axis of Awesome, Raskopoulos is a passionate advocate for LGBTQIA+ and mental health causes. In 2016, she publicly came out as a transgender woman via the touching 'What Happened to Jordan's Beard?' video. She will be joined by a community panel to discuss open, respectful dialogues around gender identities, and the value of sharing lived experiences in leading and informing education, awareness and support of queer and trans communities.
Her colourful career to date has also included a world record for longest performance of ‘The Song That Doesn’t End’ (five hours, 47 minutes), film performances (I Am Woman), and her TEDxSydney Talk How I Live with High-Functioning Anxiety.
We look forward to welcoming you to this special event. Light dinner and refreshments will also be provided prior to the event's formal commencement at 6pm.
Spaces are limited, so be sure to register your free ticket.
Proudly supported by Pride Network, ACON and the Safer Communities Office.
University Wellbeing staff will be on site to support this event. In order to respect the privacy of attendees and guests, please note that this event will not be recorded.
