Starting University can be a little overwhelming and we know you may have questions, including what to expect in your first semester of classes.
Your Peer Support Advisors (PSAs) are here to help! The PSAs are multilinguals students, trained to answer a range of enquiries, including connecting you with support services, and tips on a variety of social activities you can get involved in. They were once also in your situation and can provide advice on the best ways to get started at the uni.
The Getting Started Q & A sessions are your chance to join an online meeting and ask any questions that can help you to plan your journey to Sydney and your time for the first few weeks of the semester.

Transitioning from high school to university can be challenging. We've been there, we get it. That's why we've developed the Science Undergraduate Peer Mentoring Program!
This program partners groups of first year students (you) with second and third year mentors from the same or similar majors. This way you have someone to turn to when things don't make sense. Don't know how to change a class on your timetable? Ask your mentor. Don't know who to go to when you have questions about assessment tasks? Ask your mentor. How do you make and keep friends on such a big campus? Get advice from your mentor. Having someone a few years ahead to talk to can make a world of difference.
We are starting this semester's mentoring program with a fun Welcome session to break the ice and answer all of your questions. We'll then head down to Victoria Park (assuming it's not raining) for a picnic so you can continue to build social connections amongst your peers.
If you have not signed up for the program yet, don't worry. Register for this welcome event and we can help you get started on the day!
We can't wait to see you all there!

This August, Vinnies Community Sleepouts will take place across NSW to raise awareness of the realities of homelessness and funds for Vinnies homelessness services. Each night, over 116,000 Australians experience homelessness — 50% being women and 25% under 18 years old. By listening to eye-opening stories, participating in activities, and ‘sleeping rough’ for a night, Vinnies Sleepout participants can gain a unique insight into the complexities of homelessness.
On the night there will be: dinner, hot food/beverages ☕, games (including Kahoot!), guest speakers, a movie 🎥 and much more! Breakfast will also be provided the next morning. So please come join us for a memorable night on Friday 19 August at 5pm at The University of Sydney Quadrangle where Sydney Uni Young Vinnies will be hosting our very own Sleepout! 🤩💙
All funds raised will be donated to the Marian Centre which is a crisis accommodation and case management service for women with children who have experienced domestic/family violence and/or homelessness. To make a contribution and set up your own fundraising page, please click here:
