Non-recent School Leavers Welcome

This event is for domestic students coming back to study after some time away. You may be a full-time or part-time student and find you are managing study with other commitments. This session provides an opportunity to network and hear from a current student who will share their experiences and tips for how to set yourself up for success and find a work/study/life balance when recommencing study. You will also hear from some of our key university staff and one of our academics in regard to some of the resources and services relevant to you.

This event is designed for domestic students only, international students are recommended to attend the International Student Welcome instead.

Peer Mentor Thank You Event

Please note this event is only open to students who were Peer Mentors in Semester 1 or Semester 2, 2025.

 

The Peer Mentor Thank You Event will be the first all-faculty recognition event celebrating the incredible contribution of our student mentors. This special occasion brings together Peer Mentors from across the University of Sydney to acknowledge their time, effort, and dedication in supporting their peers throughout the year. 

The event will begin with a campus-wide Scavenger Hunt where mentors will work in interfaculty-faculty teams to solve riddles, complete challenges, and race to the finish line.

At the final location we will be hosting a networking reception, where lunch will be provided as well as some activities to recognise you for your impact as a peer mentor. 

This event is both a celebration and a thank you, recognising your invaluable role Peer Mentors play in shaping a welcoming, supportive student community at the University of Sydney.

This workshop will provide you with some strategies for making the best use of your time as an academic reader. You will learn about a range of strategies, including skimming, scanning, and blocking. You will practice refining your purpose and asking questions of what you read and explore principles of effective note-taking.
