The Postgraduate Welcome Program is your opportunity to:

  • Learn essential orientation information about starting your studies from our experts at the Postgraduate Information Session
  • Meet your Postgraduate Coursework Coordinator, who is a senior academic that can advise you throughout your studies at the Welcome Reception
  • Be connected with other new students in your area of study and your Postgraduate Student Mentor, who is a senior student in your course.

FASS Undergraduate Welcome and Mentoring

Welcome to the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS)!

What’s this about?

The FASS Undergraduate Welcome and Mentoring Program is the essential first step at university for all new undergraduates studying in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.

The program starts with attending Welcome Day, where you’ll gain important information about your studies, make new friends, and connect with your Peer Mentor who’ll support you across the first six weeks of Semester 1.

What’s included?

  • Connect with your own Peer Mentor and other new students from your area of study and the Faculty
  • Meet university staff and receive important information about your degree and support to help you succeed in your studies
  • Enjoy a delicious lunch in the iconic Quadrangle, followed by a campus tour
  • Get exclusive access to more social events across Weeks 1 to 6 of Semester 1

When is Welcome Day?

Depending on your degree, your Welcome Day is Tuesday 18 February or Wednesday 19 February. Please ensure you pick the correct degree when registering.

Future of Food Culture | Academic Panel Discussion

Getting Started Q&A Sessions

Starting University can be a little overwhelming and we know you may have questions, including what to expect in your first semester of classes. 

 

Your Peer Support Advisors (PSAs) are here to help! The PSAs are multilingual students, trained to answer a range of enquiries, including connecting you with support services, and tips on a variety of social activities you can get involved in. They were once also in your situation and can provide advice on the best ways to get started at the uni.

 

The Getting Started Q & A sessions are your chance to join an online meeting and ask any questions that can help you to plan your journey to Sydney and your time for the first few weeks of the semester

International Student Welcome

 

As an international student, International Student Welcome Day is your official welcome to the University of Sydney Community. You will experience a traditional Aboriginal dance performance and Welcome to Country. An information session will help you transition to University life with important information on support services and tips to help look after your health and wellbeing in your new home, Australia.

 

What your day will look like?

  • 9:00am-9:30am Line up at front of the Great Hall
  • 9:30am Door opens
  • 9:55am Door closes
  • 10:00am Formal proceeding starts. You'll hear information on support, student organisations, health and safety services, campus life and advice from current students.
  • 11:30am Social activities and info booths at the Quadrangle
  • 12:30pm Walk over to SUS for lunch and more activities
  • 14:00pm Conclusion of the day
