Mukashi Banashi Matsuri

Mukashi Banashi Matsuri

Mukashibanashi Matsuri (Mukashibanashi Festival) is a Japanese folklore-themed festival featuring interactive cultural stalls with games, crafts, snacks and drinks.

Students are welcome to drop in at any time between 12:00pm and 3:00pm - whether you have a break between classes or some free time during the day. Stay for 10 minutes or the full afternoon!

Attendees can write Tanabata wishes 🎋, paint kitsune (fox) masks 🦊, play a (fake) goldfish scooping game 🐟, and enjoy themed food and drinks 🍱 , ranging from ice cream 🍨 to udon 🍜 to onigiri 🍙 and more 🍵! There will be 9 distinct stalls inspired by a range of classic Japanese folklore characters. Mukashibanashi literally refers to traditional Japanese folktales 📜- stories often beginning with “once upon a time” and passed down for generations. So come by to immerse yourself in the rich stories of ancient Japan!

The event is designed to create a lively and welcoming space for students to connect through creativity, culture and community during the start of semester.
