Traditional Indigenous Painting and lunch with SLIC
Come spend an afternoon doing some incredible Indigenous Painting with Koori Kinnections and savour a delicious feed from Parliament on King.
This is an afternoon opportunity to meet North Queensland based grassroots organisation Girringun Aboriginal Corporation and get to know more about their involvement with Service Learning in Indigenous Communities (SLIC). SLIC is an Industry and Community Project focused on working with different First Nations communities and embedding Aboriginal world views beyond the boundaries of the University campus.
SLIC has been working with Girringun this year on issues like Queensland's Path to Treaty, Biodiversity and Native Plant Nursery, Ranger Program, and Traditional Use of Marine Agreement to name a few. Yarn with Girringun on how students can work collaboratively with Indigenous communities and respect country during the process.
