South Asia Symposium

South Asia Symposium

Student Life Grants

Join us at a symposium exploring new research on South Asia (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, The Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka) and its diaspora. The one-day program organised by Sydney South Asia Society (SSAS) includes panels from 9:00am - 3pm on language and culture on the margins, politics and conflict, and working lives and livelihoods. At 3:30pm the documentary film, "Ghar ka pata" (Home Address), which focusses on Kashmiri exiles, will be shown followed by a discussion on themes of diaspora and home. The symposium brings together early career research scholars whose work focusses on this diverse multi-cultural, multi-lingual, and multi-religious region. Lunch and snacks will be provided. All welcome!
