Celebration event: Welcoming international students to Sydney for over a century

Celebration event: Welcoming international students to Sydney for over a century

Office of Student Life

All students are invited to join us on campus to celebrate more than 100 years of welcoming international students to the University of Sydney.

Over a century ago, we welcomed the first international students to our community. Since then, students from around the world continue to choose our University, building our rich and diverse community on campus as well as our global, active alumni networks.

Sponsored by the Vice-Chancellor, this special event includes a range of activities to celebrate international students at the University:

  • Free BBQ lunch and other food and drinks
  • Attend a workshop and contribute to an Indigenous painting
  • Watch performances from student society ethnocultural dance groups
  • Try calligraphy and learn about language options with the School of Languages and Cultures
  • Ride a mechanical surfboard
  • Explore international cuisines from a range of food trucks
  • Visit the USU markets
  • Speak to SUSF and learn about the Student World Cup
  • Chat with Student Life, SRC, SUPRA, Sydney Future Students and Alumni about support and opportunities

A range of staff, including the Vice-Chancellor, will also be in attendance to celebrate our global community.
