Reachout Composition Masterclass Series: Sally Whitwell

Student Life Grants

Get excited to learn about composition! 🎶

Have you ever been interested in how music is made and how you could turn your musical talent into your career? The secrets of writing an effective score for tv? The ins and outs of the music commission business? Or how you make it in the music industry? Then come along to our free composition masterclass series!

Two amazing professional composers will each run a two-part masterclass with a different focus - they'll talk about their experiences within the industry, and share their tips and tricks on how to tackle a brief, how to get a commission for a work, and how to truly master choral work.

Joining us for our second masterclass will be Sally Whitwell.

Award winning musician Sally Whitwell maintains a busy freelance career as a composer, pianist, conductor, and educator from her base in Sydney, Australia. She is a two-time ARIA winner for Best Classical Album, and has travelled the world as a conductor and performer. Currently, Sally is concentrating on a number of composition projects, with several commissioned works soon to be premiered by Acacia Quartet, Ensemble Offspring, Gondwana Voices and Hunter Singers. For more information, visit her website.

Over two evenings, Sally will be delving into the world of commissioned music and how to navigate the music industry as a composer. She will also be talking about her current projects and how to perfect a choral composition.
